ABOUT
DICK SCOPPETTONE
In the 60s, I was the founder and lead singer for the pop group Harpers Bizarre who had a hit record with “Feelin’ Groovy.” After extensive tours throughout the US, I became a Commercial Real Estate Broker. In the 80s, heeding the call from my creative brain, I wrote the book, music, and lyrics for a musical about my teen years surfing in Santa Cruz.
Following that, I wrote and produced music and lyrics for corporate jingles for Phillips and Consolidated Freightways and others, then launched into my first novel, The Seven Duties of the Heart, about the Indians living in Yosemite when the Whites discovered it.
In 2000, I started my own business, and as CEO with twelve employees, I negotiated a profitable sale some fifteen years later. After the sale, I penned my second book, The Little Business Book – Five Steps to your First Million.
I wrote and hosted the Santa Cruz Oldies But Goodies radio show for three seasons. In 2018, I wrote and produced a podcast series of 31 one-hour interviews for iTunes with musical stars from the 60s like Jay and the Americans, Connie Francis, Tommy James, and Vikki Carr. (See the podcast page on this website.) I recently completed my second novel, an 80,000-word thriller featuring the former Alfred Hitchcock mansion in Scotts Valley.
